One of the best parts of having routine dialogue with our users is the great feedback they give me on feature requests. I get to hear things that would really make an impact at an organization.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most frequent requests I used to hear was for the ability to trigger a certain Destination <strong>only when a specific answer was chosen in a mobile form<\/strong>. A simpler way of describing this would be an &#8220;if-then&#8221; statement for Destinations. If a person is filling out a mobile form chooses \u201cX\u201d, then send an email to &#8220;Y&#8221;. I&#8217;m glad to report that now <a href=\"\/blog\/how-to-save-time-build-workflows-with-the-newest-device-magic-features\/\">you can do just that<\/a> thanks to Destination Rules!<\/p>\n<h2>When to use Destination Rules.<\/h2>\n<p>Previously, every Destination you set up for a mobile form in Device Magic had to fire each time that form was submitted on a device. This is no longer the case with Destination Rules. Let\u2019s look at an example of a situation where <a href=\"\/blog\/how-to-save-time-build-workflows-with-the-newest-device-magic-features\/\">Destination Rules<\/a> come in handy.<\/p>\n<h2>Use Case: Vehicle Inspection Report<\/h2>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say you have a vehicle <a href=\"\/blog\/update-your-safety-inspection-report-process-step-by-step\/\">inspection report<\/a> which needs to be completed at the end of each day. Normally, nothing is wrong with the vehicle and the report simply needs to be completed. However, when there is an issue with the vehicle, a copy of the report needs to go to a supervisor so they know about the problem and appropriate action can be taken. I&#8217;ll walk you through how you can set up this up using Destination Rules.<\/p>\n<h3>Vehicle Inspection Mobile Form.<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ll use a very simple form example for a vehicle inspection. Here is what the form looks like on the device:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2859 size-medium\" style=\"margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devicemagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG_2531-169x300-2.png\" alt=\"IMG_2531\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say you only want to send the report to a supervisor if the &#8220;Vehicle Condition&#8221; value is &#8220;Fail&#8221;, as shown below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2860\" style=\"margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devicemagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG_2533-169x300-2.png\" alt=\"IMG_2533\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2861\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devicemagic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG_2534-169x300-2.png\" alt=\"IMG_2534\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Creating a Destination Rule.<\/h3>\n<p>To have the report be sent to a supervisor when that form is submitted, you can create a Destination Rule for the vehicle inspection form. That is done from the Device Magic Dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>First, create a new Destination:<\/p>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-3_58_21-PM-1024x406-2.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-3_58_21-PM-1024x406-2.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"webbp\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-3_58_21-PM-1024x406-2.jpg\" alt=\"Creating a new destination in Device Magic\" width=\"840px\" \/><\/picture>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For this example, we&#8217;ll make this Destination a plain text email. That means the data collected in the form will be delivered within the body of an email.<\/p>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_02_56-PM-1024x681-2-1.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_02_56-PM-1024x681-2-1.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"webbp\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_02_56-PM-1024x681-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"Device Magic destination - plain email\" width=\"840px\" \/><\/picture>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under &#8220;Destination Options&#8221; we&#8217;ll give this Destination a description so we know more about it on the summary page. :<\/p>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_09_39-PM-1024x201-2.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><source srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_09_39-PM-1024x201-2.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\" \/><\/picture>\n<picture><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"webbp\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2016-10-10-at-4_09_39-PM-1024x201-2.jpg\" alt=\"Device Magic destination option\" width=\"840px\" \/><\/picture>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under &#8220;E-mail Options&#8221;, enter the email address for the supervisor and click the blue button under &#8220;Destination Rules&#8221;.
